About Ladybug Photography and Photographers

Ladybug Photography by Bekky Murphy was established as an LLC in 2014. We added an in-home studio space in 2016. In 2017, we started teaching Basic DSLR camera classes during the wintertime. In February of 2021 we moved into a studio space in downtown La Crosse! While Bekky is the main photographer for your session, we are a husband-wife team for weddings & events. We are available for photography in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois and for traveling as well. We are mostly serving the Coulee Region Area which includes: La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen, West Salem, Sparta, Tomah, Winona, Stoddard, etc.

Bekky Murphy, Photographer

I have always been fascinated by photography since a very young age. When we visited my grandparents, you could always find me looking through the old family photos. I would also "pretend" to take photos with the antique cameras that my Grandparent's used years before. Fun fact: You'll find these located in my studio now.

My husband, Gordon, gave me my first DSLR in 2013 and I soon learned how to shoot in Manual mode and RAW. Over the last few years, I've taken every moment to learn more about posing, lighting, editing, business, social media, etc.

I have a fun, full of life personality and I like to take the time to get to know all of our clients. I always say that you come to me as clients and leave as friends. Photo shoots are relaxed, fun and easy going -- because that's the best way for natural smiles! I have actually heard multiple times at the end of the session how fun and easy it was for their family. I am really good with kids and thoroughly enjoy working with them!

I lead a pretty busy lifestyle, but I wouldn’t want it any other way! I am a busy mom of two little girls, as well as our two Irish Wolfhounds and two cats! Before I was a photographer, I went to Winona State University and graduated with three Bachelor’s Degrees. My background is in non-profit work.

Gordon Murphy, Assistant & Second Shooter Photographer

“Photography has become a lifestyle for me. This is the way I can share all of my interests with everyone.  I love being outdoors! Hiking, mountain biking, fishing and boating are a few of my hobbies. I have discovered that there is much more to a narrative of an activity when you show someone the photographs taken while doing that activity. Great photos get people interested, they ask more questions and it gets their wheels turning.

Besides capturing outdoor activities, I have found a profound passion for the technical side of recording light. Every situation is different and the challenge of conveying emotion, action, and light really interests me! Many times during portrait photo shoots, you’ll see me working as Bekky’s assistant helping with the lighting and posing.”

  • Gordon works full time as a tool and die maker and is also a full time college student at Viterbo University. He will graduate with a degree in Engineering in May of 2023.

We can't wait to meet your family! :) Here are a few of our personal photos. We often like to challenge ourselves and take our own photos. :)
